Me as a baby, recently received cash bonus from the Japanese government amounting to Y20,000 ($300), I decided to give Daddy and Mummy a treat. Onsen accomodation all sponsored by ME (actually from Aso-san) at the No 1 Onsen in Japan, Kusatsu !!! What a good son I am !!!
We set out early in the morning at 6:30am, and traffic was pretty smooth actually. Me being a good boy drink more water as the weather was hot.
The Hotel Room
My Y20,000 is soooo BIG .... I decided to give Daddy and Mummy the Best. A SUITE at the onsen hotel (大東館)just by the famous Yubatake(湯畑).
I am sinking into the futon.
Another sinking in the futon shot.
Another futon shot.
A big living room, plus a dining area with a dining table for 8. Who needs a dining table for 8 in the hotel room anyway.
View of the Yubatake from the bedroom.
Japanese table are in such perfect height to support me standing.
Let me do gongfu hands with the air-con remote control.
Disclaimer : Before all my japanese fans come and ask me how to get a Suite for Y20,000. I have to admit, my Y20,000 only pay for the cheapest room actually.
Our original room was actually small, view of the roof of next building and rusty railing on the balcony. Hot water take 10 mins to come in droplets. So we did what the Singaporean do... COMPLAIN !!! And we got upgrade to the suite room with Yubatake view !!!
These 2 are pictures from the cheap room. Me having fun climbing up the table.
白根山 (Shirane mountain)
Mount Shirane is a series of volcanic peaks just outside the town of Kusatsu Onsen. It is about 30 mins drive from Kusatsu Onsen. The mountain is about 2,000 metres above sea level.
I was so excited seeing my potatoes chip growing in size as we drive up the mountain. Yeah, I will have more chips to eat at the peak.
This is the peak of the mountain, the crater of the mountain... looks like is full of onsen water.
See the tiny cars in the background, there how far my super Daddy carry my 11.5kg load up the mountain.
Daddy struggling to smile for photo.
Hands no more strength, then we switched to shoulder.
Some fun area at the bottom of the mountain.
西の河原公園 (Sainokawara Park)
Sainokawara Park covers a valley not far from Kusatsu town center, where several hot spring sources and a large outdoor bath are located. Hot spring water can be seen bubbling to the surface here and there, collecting into hot water pools and running down the valley in warm streams before joining the central mountain stream.
Daddy taking a rest.
The streams at the park, hot water flowing everywhere.
Yubatake is the symbol of Kusatsu and the resort's main source of hot spring water. In fact, with an output of 5000 liters per minute, the yubatake is Japan's single most productive hot spring source.
The overall view of Yubatake from our room.
With Mummy.
The day view.
My first 足湯 (leg bath).
A shrine near Yubatake.
